UltraPure Systems Inc. (UPSi) was established in 1999 by César A. Roca, licensed engineer and chief executive officer & president of the company. The company strives to provide high-quality process and utility-piping expertise to the biopharmaceutical market in Puerto Rico.
According to Roca, the company quickly built a solid reputation for its in-depth knowledge of the complexities involved in the design, fabrication, installation, inspection, and documentation of biopharmaceutical high purity piping process and utility systems. "This concentration and dedication to specializing in high purity piping systems has resulted in the development of special expertise in the field and has elevated UPSi to being considered the top company in the Puerto Rican biopharmaceutical market," Roca said. UPSi's annual revenue for 2004 topped $29 million.
UPSi is prepared to handle all aspects of clients' skidding requirements and is capable of customizing a client's process module fabrication requirements in the client's facilities. Roca said UPSi maximizes productivity and quality by fully utilizing its own prefabrication capabilities.
"We are the only orbital welding specialty contractor in the Caribbean with two fully operational and certified hygienic systems fabrication shops," Roca said. The engineer explained how the company's philosophy of applying an "assembly line" approach to spool fabrication has led to high quality and high productivity. He added this has allowed the company to maintain a low average cost per orbital weld produced. "The overall UPSi shop fabrication advantage has allowed us to provide our clients with higher quality, increased productivity, and reduced project schedule and costs. In addition, our capabilities provide for prefabricating and shipping spools all over the world," he said.
UPSi's in-house shops are a 15,000-square-foot fabrication facility in Vega Baja and a 30,000- square-foot fabrication facility in Juncos. From those two facilities, UPSi is able to ship its products anywhere in the world. The company's products include sanitary process piping systems, water for injection systems, process waste systems, process piping systems, and the prefabrication, rigging, and setting of skids.
According to Roca, with UPSi on the job, clients will get the state-of-the-art technology that has made the company one of the leading specialty contractors with a strong reputation for quality workmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
